Public transportation in Barcelona is excellent on the whole. If you are planning on staying in Barcelona for more than a day, buy a T-10 travel card which allows 10 combined journey on the buses or metro for €7.85. Multiple people may share one card. Day passes allow unlimited travel for one passenger in one day for €5.90 although this typically is not a good value. Single journey passes cost €1.40. Passes may be purchased with cash or credit cards at all metro stations or with cash on buses.
Taxis are an affordable alternative to Barcelona’s buses and metros. Official Barcelona taxis are yellow and black. Rates are posted inside the taxis. It’s generally easy to hail a taxi with its green light illuminated in the street, but ask at Somnio's front desk to book a taxi during off hours. Tipping in taxis is welcome but not required.

From the airport
El Prat – You can catch the blue Aerobus right outside the arrival Terminals 1 and 2. Tickets cost €5 for a single and €8.65 for roundtrip. Tickets are valid for one week only. Cash and credit cards are accepted at machines outside the arrival terminals, and change is given on the bus. The ride is approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the last stop, Plaça Catalunya. You will be right outside of the department store El Corte Ingles. With the store to your right, walk up Passeig de Gracia to Carrer de la Diputació. Turn left, and walk across Rambla Catalunya to Somnio at Carrer de la Diputació 251, on your right side.
A taxi from the airport will cost approximately 25-30 euros. There is a 3 euro surcharge for airport trips and a 90 cent surcharge for large pieces of luggage.

From the train/bus stations
Estació Sants – Take the Green L3 line to Plaça Catalunya. Exit to Rambla Catalunya and walk away from the Plaça up Rambla Catalunya to Carrer de la Diputació. Turn left, and Somnio will be on your right side at Carrer de la Diputació 251.

Estació de Franca – Take the Yellow L4 line to Passeig de Gracia. Exit at Sortida Consell de Cent. After exiting, walk straight down Passeig de Gracia. Turn right on Diputació, and walk for two blocks. Somnio will be on your right side at Carrer de la Diputació 251.
Estació Nord - Catch the metro from the stop Arc de Triomph to Plaça Catalunya. Exit to Rambla Catalunya and walk away from the Plaça up Rambla Catalunya to Carrer de la Diputació. Turn left, and Somnio Hostel will be on your right side at Carrer de la Diputació 251.
From the port
Walk to the large column shaped monument at bottom of Las Ramblas. Turn up Las Ramblas away from the water. Take the Green L3 metro line at Drassanes to Plaça Catalunya. Exit to Rambla Catalunya and walk away from the Plaça up Rambla Catalunya to Carrer de la Diputació. Turn left, and Somnio Hostel will be on your right side at Carrer de la Diputació 251.
